10 Ghanaian female photographers who are doing the damn thing so well

In our own special way, we are celebrating Ghana’s best female photographers who have excelled in the highly male-dominated field with their cameras, passion and art on this special day.

19th August is World Photography Day and today marks the 177th existence of the art of photography. The day is set aside to celebrate all the talented and amazing photographers who have captured our joys, pain, anger,nature, architecture, and every other thing that can be captured by the Polaroid.

In our own special way, we are celebrating Ghana’s best female photographers who have excelled in the highly male-dominated field with their cameras, passion, and art on this special day.

Here are the 10 Ghanaian female photographers you need to know


Charlene Asare- C.Asare Photography

Charlene Asare is the C.E.O and head photographer of the C.Asare photography which is known for their high fashion photography, beauty and editorial works in the Ghanaian fashion industry. The 30-year-old Kensington and Chelsea College who relocated from the United Kingdom to Ghana also works with an event-planning company, Talata Events. Charlene continues to capture stunning imagery of clothes and beautiful black models with her camera every day.

Senyuiedzorm Awusi Adadevoh


Senyuiedzom is a strong woman who battles hard with men on the field as one of the few female photographers in the sporting arena and the only one from Ghana. The professional photographer since 2008 has followed sports (football) on every stage in the world capturing the gallant black stars in all their major and even not so important competition. She’s been likened to Annie Lebovitz and you could see a lot of similarities between her and the photography icon because of their passion and drive to achieve startling images. Aside sports, she’s an avid travel photographer who wouldn’t miss the opportunity to take a good photo of a landmark somewhere in the world.

Indira Efua Echeruo

Most people will know Indira Echeruo as the beautiful mixed race friend of Ghanaian entertainment personality,  Deborah Vanessa Owusu-Bonsu popularly known as SisterDurrbie who is also of both Ghanaian and Romanian heritage.  Indira is a social documentary photographer who uses her photography to spark conversations about issues that bother society. Her body of work transcend just vices and society’s role in solving the issues, she documents that makes a society tick especially its culture and history.She creates striking narratives with her works.

Nafa Adadevoh

Most people do not know who Nafa Adadevoh is both in the country where she plies her trade, the United States and her country of origin, Ghana. This because she is the brains and face behind Judah Avenue Photography; a wedding, maternity and baby photography company based in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. The proud mother and wife has grown her business organically and developed it into a full team of passionate, creative photographers who are ready to bring smiles and some tears as well to families all over the world.

Nana Akua Boatemaa

Nana Akua Boatemaa is famed for her photography company, Akiboat Impressions which she co-owns with her husband who is also a photographer. Akua is a lifestyle, wedding and commercial photographer with a degree in Journalism. She is the official photographer for Miss Malaika and Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2016. Her celebrity clientele includeJoselyn Dumas, Roselyn Ngisaah, NAA ASHORKOR and Beverly Afaglo.

Josephine Kuuire

Josephine Kuuire is the head photographer of her self-run photography company, Mumble Photography. Mumble photography provides photography services for a range of clients who need a great photographer to capture their events, weddings, portrait and any other thing of interest. Her portrait of sexy Ghanaian male models makes her one to watch any day.

Yvonne Maura Appiah is another unique photographer who shoots for Uone Maura Fotgrafy and an assistant to Bob Pixel. Her critical and creative work speaks so much of her talent and we know she’ll do well as she goes further.

Remember the Ghanaian bride who wore desert boots on her wedding day  and brought the internet to a halt??  She is also a photographer who works at her eponymous photography company, Vera Obeng Photography.  She is an artist who is keen on weddings that tell beautiful love stories

Matilda Kafui Dogbatsey is another queen who wears her crown well whiles shooting everything that comes into her focus. The 26-year-old only begun her photography journey some 11 months ago but continues to catch the eyes of the creme de la creme of society. Her passion for making an impact in her chosen career is commendable and we all wait to see what she churns out  in the near future.

Aurammie Boateng


Aurammie is passionate about photography in a way that beats the imagination. Her conceptual photos of inanimate objects make her style very different from the norm. Aurammie is carving an identity for herself in this highly competitive industry as the day goes by.
